Barbara
A. Huss and Rodney Huss vs Dr. John Overton and Memphis
Obstetrics and Gynecological Association, P. C.
was filed in the United States District Court for the
Northern District of Mississippi, Delta Division. The
case proceeded to trial in Federal Court in Greenville,
Mississippi. The case involved Defendants prescribing
to Barbara Huss, who was pregnant, a drug called Terbutaline,
which is utilized for suppression of early or false
labor. As a result of the administration of Terbutaline,
Barbara Huss suffered permanent cardiomyopathy, rendering
her disabled. This case proceeded to trial and on or
about August 24, 2004, a jury reached a unanimous verdict,
finding for the Plaintiff, and ordering the Defendants
to pay a judgment in the amount of $3,500,000.00.
